Our certification exam utilizes multiple choice questions and true/false statements to check your understanding of the principles and procedures associated with CPR, First Aid, or BLS. We do not require you demonstrate these skills on a mannequin in front of an examiner. ATA's certifications are valid for two years. That's double the time of other face-to-face or internet providers. Our certifications are accepted as an initial certification or a recertification for someone with an expiring card. It does not matter where you earned your initial certification. About Ohio

Ohio is the 17th state, having been admitted to the Union on March 1, 1803. With a total population of over 11.5 million people, Ohio is the 7th most populated and the 10th most densely populated state in the U.S. Measuring 40,948 square miles, Ohio is the 34th largest state in the country. The state capitol and largest city, Columbus, also known as "The Biggest Small Town in America," measures 223.11 square miles and has an estimated metro population of approximately 1.9 million people. Other major cities include Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Ohio is named "The Buckeye State," because the state tree is the Ohio Buckeye and the state has an abundance of Buckeye trees. The state is named after the Ohio River. "Ohio" is a word from the Iroquois Indian dialect and it means: "beautiful river." The state motto is "With God, all things are possible." The state flower is the Scarlet Carnation, and the Cardinal is the official state bird. The state animals are the Ladybug and the White-tailed Deer. The climate is humid continental and consists of cold winters and hot and humid summers. The state receives moderate precipitation and has a high prevalence of lake-effect snowstorms, tornadoes and has had more than 200 earthquakes since 1776.

Ohio has a long history of conflict. After being attained from the British after the Revolutionary War, the 1790s brought increased conflict and fighting with the Indian population. Then, in 1813, at the Battle of Lake Erie, Commander Perry led the state to victory and defeated the British. In 1830, President Andrew Jackson instituted the Indian Removal Act thereby removing most Indian tribes and forcing them west of the Mississippi. In 1835, there was yet another battle as Ohio and Michigan fought in the Toledo War over the Toledo Strip. The 1862 Battle of Shiloh was considered a victory, but it cost Ohio's forces nearly 2,000 casualties and greatly affected the state's morale.

Ohio's economy is based on several contributors including manufacturing of rubber, jet engines, office machinery, auto equipment, refrigeration and steel. The agricultural commodities of the state include hay, corn, oats, soybeans and fruits (with Ohio being the 4th largest producer of limes). The state's economy is also dependent on financial services, trade, transportation, bioscience and healthcare and industrial products.

Tourism is a $36 billion dollar industry in Ohio with the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame being among the most visited attractions. Additional tourist destinations include the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the Indian Burial Ground at Mound City, the Professional Football Hall of Fame and Perry's Victory International Peace Memorial. Ohio also boasts 74 state parks and 20 forests.

As the "Mother of Modern Presidents," Ohio is home to 7 former U.S. Presidents. Other famous Ohio natives include astronaut Neil Armstrong, directors Chris Columbus and Wes Craven, photographer Clarence White, actresses Halle Barry and Sarah Jessica Parker and singer Nick Lachey.
