Our certification exam utilizes multiple choice questions and true/false statements to check your understanding of the principles and procedures associated with CPR, First Aid, or BLS. We do not require you demonstrate these skills on a mannequin in front of an examiner. By removing the anxiety of a face-to-face test, we allow you to concentrate on the care guidelines and scenarios presented in the study guide. This also saves the frustration of traveling to a testing site or arranging an appointment with an examiner.

Two Year Certification or Recertification

ATA's certifications are valid for two years. That's double the time of other face-to-face or internet providers. Our certifications are accepted as an initial certification or a recertification for someone with an expiring card. It does not matter where you earned your initial certification. About Texas

Texas is the 28th state and became a state on December 29, 1845. With a large total population of over 26.1 million people, Texas is the second most populated state. Measuring 269,581 square miles, Texas is also the 2nd largest state in the country. The state capitol, Austin, measures 272 square miles and has an estimated population of nearly 820,000 people, making the capitol the 4th most populated state in the U.S. Austin also boasts the largest state capitol building and is composed of 15,000 car loads of pink granite.

The largest city in Texas is Houston. With a population of over 2.1 million people in 627.8 square miles, Houston is the 4th largest city in the country. Other major cities include Dallas-Fort Worth, Arlington and San Antonio.

Texas is called "The Lone Star State," because of its flag design. The state motto is "Friendship," originating from the Caddo word "Tejas" with the same meaning. The red grapefruit is the state fruit. The state tree is the pecan and the flower is the bluebonnet. The state animals include the mockingbird (bird), the armadillo (animal) and the Hornet Lizard (insect). Because of its size and variation in geography, Texas has ten climatic regions. "The Blizzard State" is known for dangerous weather including frequent wind storms, thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornadoes.

Texas benefited from an economic boom in the early 20th Century when oil was discovered, making it the nation's leading producer of oil. World War II also had a significant impact on the state when federal financing began pouring in for the state to build POW camps, Army Hospitals and military bases. Perhaps one of the most notable and historical events in Texas' history was the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy in Dallas.

Texas is the nation's leader in productivity and export. The economy is heavily based on oil production. Texas is also the leading producer in beef, hence another nickname, "The Beef State." Other major contributors to the economy include cotton production, agriculture, energy, biomedical science and computer and aerospace technology.

Nature-lovers can enjoy the Guadalupe Mountains and over 3,700 streams and rivers. Texas is home to an incredible array of metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks, with some that are almost 1,600 million years old and date back to the Mesoproterozoic Age. The state is also well-known for its dedication to visual and performing arts and Downtown Houston has several venues dedicated to the arts, including the Houston Grand Opera and Alley Theatre.

Famous Texans include legendary actress and dancer Ginger Rogers, actor Gary Busey, actor and singer Jamie Fox, comedian Bill Engvall, artist and singer Willie Nelson and world-renowned athlete Lance Armstrong.
